On October 22, Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev received a mission of CIS observers at the Kyrgyz constitutional referendum. As a REGNUM correspondent is told at the presidential press office, the head of the mission, Nauryz Aidarov noted that the referendum was held successfully, no gross violations were found during the voting. “The Kyrgyz Cebtral Elections Commission managed to settle all organization issues at the proper level. We have registered no gross violations that could substantially affect the outcomes,” he stressed.
Nauryz Aidarov handed over a text of the Mission statement to Kurmanbek Bakiyev on results of its work on the voting day.
The Kyrgyz president expressed his gratitude to the CIS Mission for their work and “objective assessment” of the referendum. “I was completely sure that the people would show activity and support the referendum. I am sure that successful referendum will become a factor that will put an end to all political intrigues and speculations on the issue, and we will directly occupy ourselves with practical work aimed at improving people’s life,” Bakiyev said.
